part A
The significant information i learned about listening to these interviews was that things were different for different people. For example between the men and women ,the african american and the white people, and the women and the men. I learned this because in one interview with and african american man named Jim Cole he said, "Wouldn't let me in the Union. Never said it to my face, but reason of it was plain. Negro. That's it. Just didn't want a Negro man to have what he should. That's wrong. You know that's wrong." this made it clear that the african americans were not given the same oppurtunities that a white man was given during this time. I also learned that men and women were not given the same oppurtunities either women were not allowed the same rights as men i learned this from Alice Caudle because she worked in the mill her whole life and when they put in new machines she learned how to use them right away and she said,"If I'd a-been a man no telling how far I'd-a gone." this shows that she was held back from being sucsessful because she was a women and not a man. Another interview i listened to was a mans name that was not given and he talked about how everyone shares what God made equally and how everyone breathes the same air but the rich people have all the money and the luxuries and he has nothing but they all share what god made.He made refrences to old man Ford and old man Rocka Fella. This is made me understand that the rich man and poor man were very different and the poor man did not understand why he didnt have the same luxuries as the rich man.
